Bureau de Change at Barcelona Airport: Currency Exchange at Terminal 1 (T1)

Barcelona Airport's currency exchange service is provided by one of the biggest Spanish banks - La Caixa. There is one foreign exchange point located in Terminal 1. It also offers the tax refund service for non-EU citizens (see below for more details).

Where is the bureau de change in Terminal 1?

In the area known as 'La Plaza', on Level 1 of the Barcelona Airport T1 building you will find a La Caixa bank with two windows for currency exchange. If you are heading to the exit for the main car park you will find the bank on your right just before the exit door.

Every Day: 07:30 - 22:00


Commission Rates

La Caixa bank do not charge commission to change foreign currency. Regarding the exchange rates, this is something that you should check with the bank, as these rates change on a regular basis.


Tax refund bureau de change at T1

If you are a non-EU resident you may be able to claim a tax refund on items that you bought within Spain. For a full guide to how this system works, read the information set out in the Foreign exchange at Barcelona Airport T2.

In order to claim your refund, you must first go to customs to have your receipts stamped. You will find the customs office located in the check-in hall at Level 3 of the T1 building.

The Bureau de Change at Barcelona Airport T1 is easy to find. It has extended opening hours that are far longer than a normal bank. There are rarely queues and commission is not charged. Therefore it is worth waiting until you arrive at Barcelona Airport to change any money.
